Information on The List was compiled using data from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) website and DBJ research. NIH is composed of 27 institutes and centers dedicated to health research. The total number of awards includes only new awards approved in FY 2021 and does not include supplements to existing projects. While the vast majority of NIH funding in Colorado in FY 2021 (more than $369 million) came in the form of research project grants, NIH funding also includes training grants, research and development contracts, construction grants and funding for other purposes.
