“Most families said that racial concordance didn’t matter that much, but they did place high value on being heard,” Lucinda Kohn, of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Colorado, Aurora, Colorado, told this news organization following the Society for Pediatric Dermatology 2024 Annual Meeting, where the study was presented during a poster session. “Being heard means that their experience was respected; that their questions and worries were anticipated, addressed, and answered; and that their feelings were acknowledged.”
