Earlier this week, I saw this Times headline skitter across my Twitter feed: “Pfizer Shot Is Far Less Effective in 5- to 11-Year-Olds Than in Older Kids, New Data Show.” An online preprint of a study of 852,384 fully vaccinated children 12 to 17 years old and 365,502 children 5 to 11 years old in New York State found that although kids in that 5 to 11 range were protected “against severe disease,” they weren’t well protected against infection from the Omicron variant.
