(Aurora, Colo. – October 29, 2024) – Renowned children’s rights expert and chair of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, professor Ann Skelton will visit Colorado on Tuesday, October 29, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of International Children’s Rights. Professor Skelton will deliver a keynote address titled “Advancing Children’s Healthcare Rights through Advocacy” at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Skelton is a globally recognized expert in children’s rights law, with a distinguished career spanning academia, advocacy and international policymaking. Her visit to Colorado marks a significant opportunity to engage with the local community on the critical issue of children’s healthcare rights.

Skelton’s address will explore the challenges and opportunities facing children’s healthcare and emphasize the role of advocacy in driving positive change. The presentation will highlight opportunities to ensure that all children have access to the healthcare they need to ensure the highest attainable standard of health as guaranteed under the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. This visit provides a unique opportunity for students, faculty and the broader community to learn about children’s healthcare rights and discuss strategies for improving children’s health and well-being through impactful advocacy.

She is a professor of law at the University of Pretoria and Leiden University, and a visiting professor at the University of Oxford and the University of Strathclyde.
