The CCTSI is pleased to announce that Amanda Piquet, MD, FAAN, will serve as associate medical director of its adult Clinical Translational Research Center on the CU Anschutz Campus. Piquet is professor of neurology at the CU Anschutz School of Medicine and the Celine Dion Foundation Endowed Chair in Autoimmune Neurology.
“As Associate Medical Director for the Adult CTRC, Dr. Piquet will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in clinical research and clinical trials to the CTRC leadership,” said Dr. Thomas Campbell, MD, who is the medical director of the CTRC.
Piquet is an internationally recognized expert in autoimmune neurology, and she leads the Autoimmune Neurology Program at the University of Colorado. As associate medical director, she will work closely with CTRC leaders to improve and facilitate the CTRC's ability to conduct clinical research and clinical trials while supporting collaboration between clinicians, nurses, techs and research staff. The outpatient Adult CTRC is located on the sixth floor of the Anschutz Health Sciences Building; the inpatient wing is on the 12th floor of the UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital.
For nearly 10 years, Piquet has used the robust resources and services of the CTRC to conduct her clinical studies and trials in patients living with a variety of neurological disorders including multiple sclerosis, stiff person syndrome, autoimmune encephalitis, and more. She recently delivered a keynote presentation at the CU-CSU Summit on her groundbreaking research in CAR T-cell therapy to treat individuals with stiff person syndrome.
Piquet completed her Medicine residency in the department of neurology at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital of Mass General Brigham, and she was an Autoimmune Neurology/Neuroimmunology Fellow at the University of Utah. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN), a leader in medical education, and a sought-after lecturer and public speaker.
Piquet says she is excited to help strengthen the Adult CTRC as a resource for investigators across CU Anschutz by supporting efficient protocol implementation, participant safety, and high-quality clinical research. “I look forward to working collaboratively with CTRC staff, investigators, and institutional partners to facilitate innovative clinical trials and expand opportunities,” she said.
Campbell continued, “I’m very excited to have the opportunity to work with Dr. Piquet, and I look forward to seeing how her ideas and innovations can build on and improve the important services the CTRC provides.”
