Since 2008, the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI) has been shaping the future of healthcare by training the next generation of biomedical research leaders while also providing critical research infrastructure and funding opportunities.

Whether you've applied for one of our many pilot awards, participated in our educational or mentoring programs or conducted your research using resources in our Clinical Translational Research Centers (CTRCs), you've experienced our deep dedication to advancing health outcomes.

In 2024 alone, our CTRCs supported 511 active studies for 260 Principal Investigators across multiple institutions: University of Colorado Hospital (UCHealth), Children’s Hospital Colorado, National Jewish Health, the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and the University of Colorado Boulder. These facilities feature expert research nurses, specialized nutrition cores, dedicated research laboratories, exercise facilities, advanced cardiovascular imaging capabilities and more.

Through our five pilot grant programs, we provided more than $940,000 last year to support researchers tackling health challenges in communities across Colorado. Our funding reaches pre- and post-doctoral trainees, research scholars and community partners dedicated to improving health.

These are just a few things for which we are known, but we have accomplished so much more. To highlight all our efforts in 2024, we have created an annual report.

This report gives you a snapshot of what we've been up to, including:

  • Growing the next generation of translational scientists with our T32 fellowship program,
  • Helping research make a greater impact through our Dissemination and Implementation core,
  • Connecting researchers with Colorado communities through our Colorado Immersion Training program,
  • Supporting K12 early-career researchers with training and mentorship,
  • Building a thriving partnership that helps youth in rural Colorado.

“The CCTSI is here to support research teams and investigators in their clinical research journeys at CU Anschutz and in our partnering institutions across the state,” said CCTSI Director Ronald Sokol, MD. “Together, we are advancing science, discovery, health and healing.”
