The Graduate Psychology Education Program is very excited to have received funding from the Bureau of Health Workforce in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for a 4th consecutive grant cycle, with a very competitive score for our application. This program is led by our behavioral health leadership team of Shandra Brown Levey, PhD, and Lauren Tolle, PhD, along with our APA-Accredited predoctoral psychology internship training director, Audrey Blakely Smith, PhD.
The funding will support behavioral health training in integrated behavioral health in family medicine (interns and predoctoral externs). Expertise from our behavioral program faculty in multiple areas including clinical supervision (Joanna Stratton, PhD), trauma-informed care (Jeremy Stevenson, PsyD) and chronic pain (Dustin Goerlitz, PhD) will enhance training for learners in family medicine (lead supervisors include Lynn Haley, PsyD, and Christy Thrash, PsyD).
When asked about this grant news, Dr. Levey shared: "I’m so proud of our team for all the hard work that went into submitting this grant application, crafting a stellar proposal, and earning such a phenomenal score – what an incredible accomplishment! Wow! Even better I’m genuinely enthusiastic about how this award will support training for the psychology workforce in meaningful ways and improve access for the patients we serve. The timing couldn’t be better."
Congrats, team!
