Q&A Header

What first inspired you to become a personal trainer?

I was asked to create a personalized Pilates reformer workout for a client who was recovering from multiple surgeries. Through that experience I realized I enjoyed working one on one with individuals who needed a little extra attention.

Can you share a bit about your fitness journey and what led you to CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center?

I have always had a love of movement, and that movement took different forms over the years. From gymnastics as a kid, to running in my teens and 20’s, to Pilates and barre-based workouts in my 30’s, to finally strength training in my 40’s. I began teaching a Pilates mat class here at AHWC in 2015, and grew to love the community here. When a training position opened up this year, I was quick to apply!

What part of your background—personal or professional—most influences how you train today?

After 13 years working in the fitness world, learning many different modalities and working at many different studios and gyms, I have come to learn that a balanced approach to fitness is best for most people. Specifically, a balance between strength, stability, and cardiovascular fitness can keep us strong and able to participate in what we love to do.

What excites you most about joining the Health and Wellness Center team?

The wealth of knowledge and experience here is incredible! I’m most excited about learning from the other team members and developing new relationships with members.

Are there specific programs, tools, or approaches you’re eager to bring to members here?

I really enjoy introducing the basics of strength training to members. I’m also using my Pilates background to help members develop their core strength and stability.

What are you looking forward to most in your first year here?

Helping my clients get stronger and meeting new people!
