The Department of Pediatrics and the pediatric residency program would like to welcome Claudia Kunrath, MD as the new Associate Program Director at Denver Health.
Dr. Kunrath attended Fundação Faculdade Federal de Ciências Médicas de Porto Alegre (FFFCMPA), now UFCSPA, in Brazil, and she graduated in 1995. She did both a pediatric residency and fellowship in Brazil. With the drive to practice medicine in the U.S., she repeated her pediatric residency in Buffalo. She repeated her fellowship at the University of Colorado and graduated from the program in 2008.
She worked at Children’s Hospital in the PICU from 2008-2013. In addition, she started her work at Denver Health as pediatric intensivist and pediatric hospitalist in 2008. She became the medical director of the PICU at Denver Health in 2012, and she has led the efforts involving growth and quality.
She has served as a core faculty member for the pediatric residency and is a member of the clinical competency committee. She has been actively involved in intern recruitment, Diversity in Pediatrics Committee (DIPC), and Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee.
