Garg, MD, professor of medicine and pediatrics at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, and Sarit Polsky, MD, MPH, assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, wrote that the trial revealed how a hybrid closed-loop system can be “safe and effective when customizable glucose targets within the pregnancy-specific target glucose range are used.” However, they said several questions were unanswered in the trial, including when hybrid closed-loop therapy should be initiated.

How Colorado’s insulin cap law evolved

The law mandated an out-of-pocket cap of $100 for a 30-day supply of insulin for Colorado residents. Kelly Ciesco, BSN, RN, adult clinic registered nurse educator at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, said Colorado’s cap was seen as a huge relief. She had observed many people with diabetes who were struggling to afford insulin prior to the cap.
